No. I believe you are correct. I miss read the picture. If the sun died out naturally we would still have heat and light for many many years.

I believe it is dieing anyway. I forget the estimate but unless you intend to stick around for a few thousand years it won't matter/ Towards the end I would expect a few disasters, floods etc over a few hundred years. There might be a big pop at the end like someone blowing a candle out.  No doubt some will say God did it. This time there won't be scientists around to prove them wrong so they will die happy.

After a disaster which wipes out the entire earth someone will say God did it?

Do you not see the flaw in that argument?

 

I'm guessing you're going to go for the "if the sun engulfs the earth, who will be left to make that comment", but by the time the sun explodes and does that, we'll have either spread out into the stars and colonised other planets, or have gone extinct. Thinking positively, we'll have moved out of the blast radius.
