Motorist impales car on crossing in Leicester Road, Thurcaston

 

Police were called to Thurcaston this morning after a driver managed to get their car stuck on a central reservation.

The motorist was not injured and did not need help getting out of the vehicle - but was left slightly red-cheeked when officers found the car perched on top of a crossing island.

It is not clear how the white Ford became impaled.

The collision happened at about 8am, today, in Leicester Road, opposite the Wheatsheaf pub.

Landlord Tony Marshall said: “We’ve just had people coming in all morning laughing about it.

“It’s interesting and a bit different.

“There are currently police and council workers stood around it with their arm folded just looking at it.”

When choosing an animal to protect your home, you might have thought that a dog would be enough to scare off any would-be intruders.

But one pet-owner was perhaps hoping to give any burglars an extra fright by dressing their Dogue de Bordeaux up as a lion.

In two pictures posted on Twitter, the animal can be seen proudly standing guard by his front gate, before looking confused while sitting on a bed.
