Must have walked a million miles doing the circuit round the dance floor on the pull. Managed it once every 5 years. Anyone remember rod Stewart(will?) and twinnie always in suits?

Absolutely. Them.pair were fixtures in town. I called them stringfellows.

Still see the darker haired dude near my gaff. He has a flat (or his sister does) near my place.

I reckon they are mid sixties now

You’ll still see him in town most Saturdays mostly during the daytime though.

I used to work at The Chateau. The decks were on the end of the small bar and I had to carry crates of vinyl discs up and down those bloody stairs evry shift.

What about Grannies on London Road... and Aunties below it for the kids. (I used to work both these places)

great to see this about Grannies and Aunties worked there as a resident DJ in the late 70,s plus a lot of other local venues .My DJ name was and still is The Barron

I was "Nick Ross" (for tax reasons lol) when I worked at Grannies. The owner then was a dour grumpy Scot whose name I forget now. I remember I had to go up some fire escape to his "office" on a Friday to collect my wages. He was known for sacking his DJ's without reason and I managed to be a relatively long serving employee.

I absolutely LOVED my 2 years there. I met Shilton, Stringfellow, Clarke and a few other City players of that time who used to come in. It was "THE PLACE TO BE" back then.

As a direct result of working at Grannies I was auditioned for Piccadilly Radio in Manchester but didn't quite make the cut.

Also was DJ at The Carousel, The Night In Town, Rapunzel's and a Cabaret place in Wigston the name of which escapes me (later renamed something like Marquis...). I was DJ in the main bar there as well as follow spot operator in the concert hall. My mate nicked Acker Bilk's jacket when he appeared there. Did the follow spotlight for Brotherhood of Man. Kids on here will have no idea who these people are/were.

So many memories...

For me....

Sector and Fan Club late 90’s to early 00’s

Lizard Lounge 02-05

Basement between 2005 - 09

Well that’s a ball park overview there were plenty of other contenders but they were main haunts.

When Palais closed down before eventually turning in to Life? It's last night was a Monday. Sold off all the drinks dirt cheap, we're talking a quid for 3 bottles of bud!

I went nuts and got absolutely and utterly smashed. Problem was, my mum had booked my driving test for 8.40 on the Tuesday morning lol

I passed, but don't remember a single second of my test. Think the examiner was pissed from the fumes!

Just saw someone post on Facebook that he’s passed away.

Great reading all the memories!! I had a great DJ career playing many of the named clubs.  One that seemed to be missed off was Viceroy, which was just off Humberstone Gate, very intimate but fun. I played Caspers/Simpkins, another club I forgot in Hinckley, and played the peoples pub The George too.  Eventually moving to cabaret club, The Kirby Grange at Kirby Bellars, a very nice place. In between I got a great  DJ career abroad working in Ibiza, Norway and the USA.  Great memories and Leicesters club scene was giving everyone a broad choice.. In the week I would travel to North London and gig down there too while studying Radio journalism, then back to Leicester for weekend gigs

There was one..on seven hills. Great atmosphere made it... City &Tiger players,we're often seen there, but they were left alone, and they respected that.

For a disco or dance venues..the Paliais, & Fusion and a bit later Grannies.  Annabelles ...casino on the tables then dinner.First years excellent!!!

But pure Night club....it must be Baileys. Very sad when it went. And the council refused several locations to build an equivalent to attract again big stars..

What was the name of the really grimy, heavy-metally-type club that was near the clocktower? And where was the Bear Cage... the name rings bells but I can't place it. :S

Anyone remeber a night club that used to be in the countryside somewhere between Coalville, Leicester and Loughborough. had a pub attached.

Jimmy Dean's. Good on a Sunday night.
