Fez of Mahrez Posted 30 June 2011 Share Posted 30 June 2011 What a weird world. We're spending £3million on a player who has played one season in the second division and West Ham are desperate to sign two players we had for years without success. It just goes to show that the odd signing here or there doesn't guarantee anything. Mackail-Smith (or whoever we sign as our main striker) could easily either score 25 goals or do absolutely nothing and get replaced by a Premier League loanee within weeks. But seeing as there's no football and everyone suddenly loses their mind at this time of year, that somehow gets forgotten by the majority. With Robbie Keane having returned to Tottenham following his loan spell last season, Allardyce knows he needs more firepower if West Ham are to bounce straight back into the Premier League. Mackail-Smith played a major role in helping Peterborough gain promotion into the Championship when he scored 35 goals last season and is keen to show he can play at a higher level. Peterborough's director of football Barry Fry claimed earlier in the week that the club had agreed a fee with Leicester, but was expecting West Ham to come back with an improved bid. West Ham are now hoping they can beat Leicester's offer and finalise a deal to bring Mackail-Smith to Upton Park.

kingfox Posted 30 June 2011 Share Posted 30 June 2011 Hope this happens seem it will, he is a very good player all the Leicester fans who say he isn't can go a piss off. Quality player and proved that last season, top scorer in England and League 1 is a good league it's not like League 2 or Blue Square is it. Nugent, Maynard and Mackail-Smith can still happen fingers crossed guys.

superfox1980 Posted 30 June 2011 Share Posted 30 June 2011 Hope this happens. Much rather CMS than Yakubu if I'm honest. CMS will be looking to prove he is good enough for the CC and then the PL. Yakubu is an overweight, lazy, money grabbing has been who wouldn't be here for the right reasons. I really think this guy could have a massive impact for us this season. He's come off the back of a fantastic season and his confidence will be sky high. Top signing !
