The "do they mean us?" thread

Recommended Posts

Must say in fairness, Todays Sunday Supplement was ok today.Martin Samuals is one of the top sports journalist IMO.

No I dont always agree with him, but he doesnt hide behind the old lines or rhetoric.

Today the 3 journalists admitted they are like many are eating humble pie. There were no snidey remarks

and to a man they did say, they would like nothing more than see Ranieri and his team to carry on suprising,

and hold the run to the end of the season....

There was a time when sports jounalist were the only info, we had on any Sports overseas and even up and

down the country. Those days are well gone, their opinions are well matched by fans, who travel more and

the simple fact of fullgame television, then the information exchange conveyer-belt of social media.

The journalists today dont need anymore to use the language and vocabulary or go into detail for their

readers or listeners like before, they have become just as daft, as good, as simple, as bias, as the readers

they serve. I just think Samuals is one of the good ones, who gives more thought.

God I hate the D.Mail but like reading his columns

Don't know about anyone else, but I've been seriously pissed off by some of the football writing this year about us. Initial season previews were mostly predicting us to finish 20th/Certain Relegation, but barely any of these journalists have bothered to revisit their initial predictions and hold their hands up. I'm assuming it must have been the same for Southampton fans last year, hearing all about how they were dead certs for relegation.

For example, this article by john cross is just hilarious (obviously in hindsight) https://t.co/vkbI7gTS77, and his next article about Vardy is just as ridiculous http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/england-boss-roy-hodgson-calls-6776896. I also used to enjoy reading the Guardian's articles, but they've just chosen to ignore us after this season preview. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/aug/05/premier-league-2015-16-season-predictions

Reddit is enjoyable place to be. Everyone likes us apart from Man U fans still moaning about 5-3, jealous Sunderland and Palace fans. Every popular thread filled with praise for us always has one of their fans moaning about our squad depth and we're crap apart from Vardy and Mahrez.

Can you post a link to this please.

there's a lot of little leicester badges there, is everyone on that forum or is it a bunch of americans supporting lie-cess-ter?

There's a big bunch of us now, a lot of fans from Leicester/England. But a lot of Americans have started supporting us from Reddit as well. www.reddit.com/r/lcfc is the Leicester section. Had about 60 subscribers when we were in the Championship, now nearly 700 or something.

Darren Lewis, that dribbler for the Mirror, said in the build up to yesterday's Watford - ManU game that "Watford have a tight defence, only Everton, Arsenal and Man City have scored more than a goal against them".

Forgetting that we did that in their last game.

Gary Lineker pisses me off from time to time.

I know he's a fan and everything, but also portrays a patronizing tone with his comments about us like the rest of the media. His latest tweets being an example of that.

At least he's acknowledged a tweet that reminds him of his "Claudio Ranieri? Really?" tweet.

We get more praise from the German Press.

Mind you it probably says 'Little old Leicester surprise the big 6'

Thing is, they even get the basics wrong. They claim we're currently top of the table for the first time in the club's history. lol

Then they spell Mahrez' first name wrong.

Then they claim the Srivaddhanaprabhas are our only owners - when we belong to a consortium.

But what do you expect - it's "Bild".
