The "do they mean us?" thread

Recommended Posts

So what about not beating the big boys, if we look at the worst 10 teams in the league (based on last year's final standing) then we have played 9 of them and only dropped points away to Bournemouth, that is 25/27 points.

Of the 9 best based on last year we haven't won any, as the media like to point out, but we have only played 5 of them and only lost once,  but 4/15 points isn't great, but it is so important not to lose those games, because we are not the only team to draw, the other 4 "big" clubs also drew meaning they don't gain any ground on us.

The narrative here is that we will never beat any of the big boys, Manchester clubs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, but that doesn't matter, if we continue our record against the rest of the league 27 points from 11 games = 64 points from the rest of the league, then 2 points from 3 games against the top 6 is 8 points from those 12 games, which would put us on 72 points, enough for fourth last season.

If we want to win the league we will have to beat the big boys, but we don't need to beat them to finish top 4, what is more important is not dropping points to the likes of Villa, West Brom, Norwich, Crystal Palace, West Ham who have all taken points off the "big" clubs this season.

The point is, it is by no means easy to beat all of the "bad" sides, and getting 25/27 against these is a phenomenal return and champions league form. So bringing it up while the "big"  clubs are dropping points to bottom half teams is just plain weird.

West Ham have beaten Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea and they're 8th and sinking thanks to their results against the rest. I don't care if we don't beat a 'top team' for the rest of the season if we pick up points at our current rate.

Taken from the Guardian website (and something I agree with)

1) Mahrez, not Vardy, may be the player sought after by other clubs

It is difficult to explain, said Leicester’s manager, Claudio Ranieri, of the significance of Jamie Vardy’s 11 consecutive game scoring record and, though the Italian clearly intended only to praise his striker’s extraordinary feat, one gets the feeling that some of Ranieri’s fellow foreign managers might agree for different reasons. For all the speculation about Vardy being sold in the transfer window, especially if Leicester are already safe, it is not easy to see him scoring as regularly in teams which play in a different way and it would be something of a surprise were he to be the subject of a bid from any of the “big” clubs. A player who might, however, is Riyad Mahrez, who as Stuart James pointed out last week, according to one respected statistic-based website is second only to Barcelona’s Neymar in terms of value to his team across the European leagues. Were it not for Leo Ulloa’s feeble finish, the Algeria international winger, who came into the match with seven goals and six assists to his name, would have won the game for his side again on Saturday, and his trickery and control could make him a sought-after commodity in a month’s time. Leicester have spent over £4m on agent fees. BBC

Does that allow for just fees paid directly to agents? Or does that include all fees paid in a transfer?

Genuine question cuz let's be fair if they cut Walsh in on the fees. He is worth every penny.

Eeerrrrmmmmm wasn't that celebration to do with the fact that man utd fans had been saying it was impossible that a shit player like vardy would score against their world class defence? The singing of van nistelrooys name aswell until he stuck in the back of the net.

What a load of crap being spouted by both liew and that spence guy, it'd take one cursory glance at vardys press conferences to see he gives out a load of credit to Claudio and the rest of the squad for this, but instead they've taken an exuberant celebration, twisted it until it screams a show tune and tried to claim the high ground. Absolute gutter journalism

Interpretation. I thought it looked as if he said. It's mine.

Also he did his interview with talksport today and said he felt his form, scoring run and chance of the euros was all down to himself.

Now you can twist that and say he is giving no credit to his team mates in isolation which we know Is not true.

Or you can take it as he meant it, which was, if I work hard, keep scoring and go to the euros then I will have earnt it.

****ing media.

The original piece is by a bloke who writes for Yahoo and Eurosport. Hardly where any self respecting fan goes for informed opinion. Clearly spotted an opportunity to up his circulation as has the telegraph economics correspondent!

That paragraph can **** right off. Vardy is one of the biggest team players I've ever seen at this club. He's every ****ing right to bask in the glory of his moment with a personal comment. Every interview in this run he's praised his team-mates and the manager but I doubt the clown bothered to read those.

He's really riling some no-mark journalists with this run. Long may it continue to piss them off.

They can bore off with the racism witch hunt as well. The incident was dealt with. It wasn't as bad as the three youth players' incident and it's absolutely pathetic how many still sit there putting on this faux outrage just so they can take the moral high ground. No-one knows the context of the incident. They treat him like he's just murdered someone lol it's absolutely pathetic.

It's just a sad hot take. Everybody's all over Vardy's jock right now so somebody's got to take a different track to try to generate controversy and web traffic

And anybody that can't understand why Vardy celebrates the way he does has never been "in the zone." Jamie Vardy is a ****in winner.

Edit to tack on to Dan's post--Why do the people that constantly badger Vardy about the casino incident just do a Google search to find several instances where Vardy himself has discussed this? Insisting Vardy wear a scarlet letter his whole life is just PC (and I hate that term) bullshit. People need to see a dude that's realized he's made some mistakes and cut him some slack for actively trying to fix his personal problems--that would be a proper open-minded, anti-racist thing to do.

That's probably why they don't do it, seeing as they just hide behind racism to try and promote themselves as some hero.
