Stay Positive Posted 10 October 2011 Share Posted 10 October 2011 Once upon a time it was unthinkable, but Neil Young has achieved several brilliant albums in old age, especially "Chrome Dreams II" and "Le Noise" but who else?
Finnegan Posted 10 October 2011 Share Posted 10 October 2011 I thought Modern Times was a good record. And Seasick Steve's got to be pretty ancient, too.

How did I forget him?!! I like the recent Dylan albums well enough, though I'm not sure I'd stretch to calling them "great". Haven't played them for a while mind. Seem to remember thinking that they were good, solid albums (I have a few recent-ish ones of his) but that they didn't even come close to the brilliance of "Desire", "Blood On The Tracks", "Highway 61 Revisited", "Blonde On Blonde" and so forth. Then again, I guess most other artists don't either...
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 October 2011 Share Posted 10 October 2011 Johnny Cash - American IV. The other American albums are good too, but that one's the best.

Finnegan Posted 10 October 2011 Share Posted 10 October 2011 Cash, Young and Dylan, sure. Bit of a tenuous link to Seasick Steve.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 October 2011 Share Posted 10 October 2011 Cash, Young and Dylan, sure. Bit of a tenuous link to Seasick Steve. Don't think blues is a world away from country. In fact they're both divisions of folk music. I thought about including BB King, but whilst he's still a great musician, he's not done anything particularly original since the 80s. As much as I enjoy his music, his skits where he talks about his life as a hobo are worth buying the albums for on their own
