How can all 16 teams be in with a chance of winning it? They all can't lose every game

They all don't have to lose every game... the team at bottom wins all four whilst the top team lose all four, then the farther you go down the table the less games they need to lose for the team at the bottom to win the title...

That works provided none of the teams at the very top play each other.  In this case, they do, so it doesn't work.

“Most of the teams defend a lot. Their first objective is not to concede goals. If they can win, it’s a bonus, but I feel the fear of conceding is stronger. Avoiding defeat can become an obsession, due to the pressure of the press and supporters. So there is less risk-taking and a lot of games end up in a draw.”

I'd be seriously intrigued to see how Barca/Madrid would do at home to teams like West Brom, West Ham etc... if it would be the same complete massacre. Probably, though not quite 5-0 by half time.

That attacking trio truly is one of the best of my lifetime.

The squeamish will want to look away now:

Elkin Soto's horror injury from last weekend's match between Mainz and Hamburger SV.

He dislocated his knee very badly and is likely to never play football again at all.

The Spanish football federation says it is suspending all end-of-season games in disputes with the government, including over TV rights.

A federation statement (in Spanish) said it was also unhappy with receiving only 4.55% of pools revenue, though it said it was still open to dialogue.

All matches will be suspended from 16 May, including the domestic cup final.

In the top division, Barcelona lead La Liga rivals Real Madrid by two points, with only three games left to play.

In the statement, the federation said it acted after three-month talks with the government had failed to resolve the dispute.

The Spanish government has so far made no public comment on the issue.

"The initial assumption is that this move has been taken in an attempt to head off a players strike which had been threatened for that weekend," said Andy West, a Spanish football expert.

"Players are unhappy with some terms of the deal, including the low percentage of revenue on offer to lower league clubs.

"The issue of TV rights is a long running one with most people recognising that Barca and Real receive far too much at the moment. Realigning it is not easy though," Mr West added.
