EA Voted Worst Company In 2012

Recommended Posts

It's all gone downhill for about four to five years now.

They used to be quite a fun company to work for, but sadly, the enormous growth has gotten to their heads, as they're virtually sitting on top of a monopoly in most sports games franchises, for instance.

The franchise system is flawed, the improvements tend to be on the minor (visual) side each year.

The servers can't cope with the demand (see FIFA 11).

On top of that, EA have perfected the art of robbing you of your money for countless DLCs.

Greedy bastards.

I've often thought about what a goldmine sports games are. They can just be tweaked a tiny bit each year and sold again at the same price as a completely new game again. Development costs must be relatively low, but there's no difference to the retail value. Plus, if it's not the latest edition, it's completely obsolete and has practically no value on the 2nd hand market.

You'd think with all the money they rake in from sales and DLC that they'd be able to invest in some good servers.

Activision have it for Call of Duty and I bet they don't make as much as EA do.

They don't need to. Once they sell their product and get huge figures (as companies like EA and Activision are likely to do) they don't need to go back to their customers and improve their experience. It's a waste of money for them and they know enough people will buy the next product in their series anyway.
