HELP laptop hijacked/hacked

Recommended Posts

Ok. So twice today the following has occurred. The mouse icon moves across the screen presses start then run and then command. Now when the command box is open it types in a directory. I dont remember what is was. At this stage during both incidents i pulled my internet connection. It stopped.

Has anyone else experienced this or similar? Also what do i do (sent from phone).

could be a RAT..

need to make sure your AV up to date , and a decent one, Avast is free, Kaspersky free if bank with barclays, run a scan.

also download something like malwarebyes, update and run a scan.

Sounds like the CIA or somebody else maybe at that American golf ball spy base in England because you've been posting in the trade centre thread!

They're all over me but I just keep typing messages to them in Google when something happens on my pc telling them that they are piss-ant traitors, whilst peeping out the curtains.

No seriously I don't know what it could be but sounds strange and I've never heard of that happening before. Could it be some lad just hacked in to your wireless and logged onto your screen pissing around?

I once had a problem and went on one of those tech forums where one of there guys talks you through what to do to try and fix the problem.

Haha. It could be el empty!!! I bet its more than a coincidence....

Im running a full avast scan now. Ive also removed two .exe files. One came up when i tried to open command, a security warning came up. Another was in the process list. Installed 7 days ago. Searched for it but nothing came up on google.

I might just back up personal files. Make a note of programs i need and then nuke the hard drive and reinstall the os.

Enderby fox - its a wired connection so it shouldntbe a problem. Haydos this is the first time ive had a problem. So try not to be an idiot. Especially as it isnt a virus.

what do you think it is then ? a ghost?

I'm not being funny, but if your mouse is moving around on it's own and stuff, theres a good chance it's somebody you know who has done this to your computer. Most fraudsters are simply after the letters and numbers you type into your keyboard. If someones got access to your actual desktop theres something a bit more sinister about it, and i'd seriously consider formatting your pc

I know that it could just be somebody in china or somthing just using VNC to control your PC, or it could just be a script thats running on the PC that is moving the mouse and doing all the clicks for them. It's just usually if somebody is trying to get access to your actual desktop, they wouldnt do that without a reason, they arnt going to find out bank information from clicking around on your desktop unless your stupid enough to keep a text file with all your logon details on your computer.

I'd take a wild guess of it's a script that is running though, especially if it's doing the same thing every time before you pull the plug. Criminals will use this to edit registry entries, usually to put your pc on some sort of botnet.

Either way a complete format of the hard drive is the only way to make sure it's completely gone. I've helped a few people out with infected pc's recently, and i'm finding more and more that antivirus programs simply arnt doing there job any more. Just use commen sense on the net, if your going to websites for illegal streaming / porn your shooting yourself in the foot not using a browser such as firefox with the adblock and noscript add ons enabled, your basically asking for your pc to be raped. The NoScript add on has saved me more times than i can remember.

rats have many built in features, including keyloggers. but not every hacker is after your bank details or a thief. a lot do it for the test, for the fun, majority are script kiddies that are using other peoples programmes.

Either way would you not agree that a full format is probably the only way of completely getting rid of whatever it is though?

no not really, its overkill..

combination of a decent AV, malwarebytes and hijack this should do the trick..

avast (free). kaspersky(can be got free from barclays) nod32 ( costs though).. norton (downfall is its price)..

The fact that you've put Norton in there pretty much tells me everything. Seriously Norton antivirus? the number one cause of peoples pc's grinding to a halt! it isnt worth the disc it's burned to!

The fact your questioning it tells me everything more like.. this is 2012 not 1998... Norton is now one of the best out there. no longer a resource hungry package..

I beg to differ, I've lost count of the amount of people i've had to help uninstall it off their computers because it's causing the thing to die a death.
