Is that 3 goals from open play now?

Yes he's done well to finally put the ball in the net, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

Lets hope he carries this on. He's certainly not been good enough up till today.

Don't make up for this whole season, but fingers crossed this is the start for him to push on. Great he's scored but doesn't make up for the rest of shit. Begs he can push on now. We could be deadly.

Doesn't make up for the whole season?

We're looking like we could go joint top, he's scored 9 goals and probably assisted as many. I know he's not always been fantastic but lol

Some people on here are on fuking crack I swear

9 goals already and people don't think he's good enough lol

He's on-course for 15(+) yet again.

Take away his penalties and he's on for about 6. Don't get carried away, he hasn't been as good as he has in previous seasons for us.

Still got to score them.

How many penalties does Lampard score, how many did Murray score last season?

And why would we do that.

You and a lot of people need to get a life, with this penalty shit, Ball hits net job done. And his two goals today have earned us 3 fantastic points at a place we always struggle to go to and a place where he has no doubt got dogs abuse off the home fans, Great character. Great away results for us.

The problem is lads unfortunately some fans don't realise that when you score a penalty and are in the lead the game changes and your new objectives are often to defend and to protect the 3 points not go and score more goals from open play. These fans also don't understand that the penalties were also potential chances to score from open play, their brains cannot work out that if a player is fouled in a goal scoring area we can no longer capitalise from that chance from open play. Unfortunately the way their brains now interperate these chances is that once the opportunity becomes a penalty, it is no longer a real goal.

Good post that.

Penalties are relatively easy though. I'm not saying you should dismiss them but you can't attribute them to the scorer as much (unless they earnt it perhaps).

If your penalty taker plays at RB and scores 12 in a season you don't decide to stick him up front, these were chances given to him and don't really reflect on his ability to play as a goalscoring striker particularly. Not trying to diminish the value of penalties to the team, just think that they are 'gifts' to the taker to a degree and so should be seen as less of an achievement.

come on.

Anybody in the side could take penalties. Fair play for stepping up but a penalty should always be scored.

His goalscoring from open play has been well below par. Stop shying away from that. He's missed some right sitters.

This was pretty much (albeit better written) what I was going to post.
