StanSP Posted 26 April 2015 Share Posted 26 April 2015 I swear one fixture was August and the other was in November or something just had a look when I made that comment and Ipswich vs Norwich was August and Forest Derby was Sept after international break. The one you're thinking of in November was this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29860052 Before that match started for that weekend, it was the top
kingcarr21 Posted 27 April 2015 Share Posted 27 April 2015 Not exactly a fan of Watford but credit where credits due they have been a force going forward. Think 3 players have scored 52 goals between them (or something like that). Thats incredible. Will be interesting to see how Deeney and Vydra perform in the prem. Vydra wasnt great at West Brom but i reckon will fair better with Watford. Congrats to them. Now surely they will finish the job and be crowned champions. Tonight though bournemouth can also reach the promised land. (Well not mathmatically but a win and there superior Goal Difference will see them promoted final day regardless) Think they will put Bolton to the sword tonight and then its a fight for the title. Cant see Watford letting the title slip now. This then leaves the playoffs. Brentford and Wolves still have a chance if either Derby or Ipswich lose there final game. Ipswich GD should keep them safe from Wolves but Brentford win by couple of goals and ipswich loss by a goal would be enough for Brentford to replace Ipswich. Going to be a very tight final day of the season. Brentford at home to Wigan and Wolves at home to Millwall gotta fancy both them to win and really put pressure on Ipswich who are away to Blackburn. bovril Posted 27 April 2015 Share Posted 27 April 2015 Good to have a new team in the Premier League, play really attractive football too. Only if we stay up. I hate to see 'new' teams in the top division if we're not there. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Master Fox Posted 27 April 2015 Share Posted 27 April 2015 This makes for us staying up even more important. Some absolute dross coming up this year. We have the potential to really establish ourselves in the Premier League now.
MC Prussian Posted 27 April 2015 Share Posted 27 April 2015 This makes for us staying up even more important. Some absolute dross coming up this year. We have the potential to really establish ourselves in the Premier League now. I wouldn't call Watford "absolute dross". Even Bournemouth have the capability of surprising quite a few teams next season, riding on the wave of promotion. That still leaves Middlesbrough and Norwich plus either Ipswich, Derby, Brentford or Wolves. Not too shabby.

The current love in for Bournemouth is way out of proportion. They've done very well but have been heavily bankrolled by foreign investors. They are up there with Tim Sherwood as the media darlings at the moment.

Has their 'heavy bankroll' been more than most other Championship clubs though? Surely Bournemouth havent spent nearly as much as other clubs. Fulham 11mill on Mccormack . Bournemouth may have spent money which got them to the Championship but imo all the hard work done to get promoted to the Premiership is down to a good young manager playing good attacking football. Im sure Bournemouth wage bill is quite high but not near as high as alot of the other Championship teams. I guess this would show that their are alot of bang average players on high wages in the Championship.

They've done very well but have been heavily bankrolled by foreign investors. They are up there with Tim Sherwood as the media darlings at the moment. 6 years ago they only just stayed in the football league after suffering a points deduction for going into administration with the club nearly going bust. I think that it's a remarkable turnaround, money or not, and the job Howe has done has been great. They aren't the only team financially backed. People go on about Fleetwood, another great achievement, but they are equally as backed financially.
