Going to London for a long weekend in Feb with the mrs. Was looking to go out for dinner in Covent Garden, preferably a nice steak house. Can anyone recommend a nice one, or any nice restaurants in that area?

Hawksmoor seven dials. I don’t normally have more than one cocktail but the drinks here are almost therapeutic, well worth going through the menu

For a very good dinner at a reasonable price, check out Flat Iron. I believe there is one near Covent Garden...

For steak I recommend Steak & Co although I’ve not eaten at the Covent Garden 1 I have the Haymarket/Piccadilly 1 and it was perfect.

They start the steak off for you then they provide a hot stone, flavoured butter, salts and source for you to finish it off.

Its fancy food without being pretentious and the Haymarket 1 had a really good energy about it & a good selection of beers & wine to get you ready for the comedy store which is just around the corner or Theatre Royal 100m down from it.

Has anyone been to Snowdonia? We are looking at going there for maybe 4 nights to do some walking etc. Found a nice looking cottage but interested if anyone has been there and has any recommendations? Cheers.

Never stayed but I have walked parts of it. It’s hard but simply incredible. Parts of it feel like a different planet

North Wales is brilliant. Conwy bay and that area seem to be the most popular spot around that end. Very nice but can be busy during school holidays so you need to book restaurants in advance (at least day before for the decent ones) although no different to Cornwall in the summer.

Yeah tbf we would prob go out of season. Would want dog friendly though. Also now we are debating whether to go to the Lake District instead.

Come on then give us some recommendations man

We stayed in a cottage in a small town called Braithwaite, near Keswick.  Its at the northern end of the lake district, so a little further to travel.

Windermere is nice, but very busy.  We went on one of the tourist ferry boats, but if we go back, we will charter a small boat for a couple of hours.

We had a lovely walk at Cat Bells, overlooking Derwent Water.  Simply gorgeous.

Buttermere is a lovely little place, but can get busy.  There is a nice walk around Buttermere lake if you want a change from the 'peaks'.

If you are taking your dog, the whole of the lake district is very dog friendly.

Whilst you are there, buy a bottle of The Lakes Pink Grapefruit Gin.  Bloody lovely.  If you are really into gins or whiskeys, you can do a tasting tour at The Lakes Distillery.  Good option if the weather is bad one day.  Also, dont forget the pencil museum in Keswick.

Mate, just driving around the area you will stumble across some amazing views and drives.

BUT our ultimate place was Wastwater.

Its surreal, slightly scary as its SO big and se went went there was abit of a mist etc..made it look like there was some madman chasing us.

Then you have the windermere etc.

It's just a beautiful  part of the country...we were VERY lucky as it didnt rain too much too!!

We went years ago before kids(13 years!) But the beauty of ot will last forever.

Hope6 other posters can give you some recent tips!!!

BUT DO GO.

Go to Hawksmoor for sure. It’s class and a great place for a date, she’ll love it. We went to the Air Street one, been for steak and also for a Sunday roast which was great value and bloody good.

We went to Betws-y-coed earlier this year, loved it there, stopped off in Portmeirion on the way which was fantastic so can recommend that if you’ve not been.

Iceland week on Tuesday having been messed around with airports and flights, should of been Luton, then they changed the inbound to Gatwick, who on earth wants to fly back to a different airport than where the car is parked? So changed to Manchester, then had the outbound cancelled 😞 and have now had to go for an extra night which has bumped up the cost.

Krakow in February for 3 nights.
