Has Anyone Booked a Holiday Yet?

Recommended Posts

I’m not sure if anyone heard what went on with P&O ferries but couple of days ago they sacked hundreds of workers without warning and literally marched them or carried them off the boats if they refused to leave- some staff didn’t have anywhere to go. Because most of their boats are registered abroad they are not subject to the UK minimum wage so have replaced them with agency workers who are allegedly earning less than £2 p/h.  Guys if you plan on using an ferry or going on a cruise, do your best to avoid P&O where possible. Shameful behind them.

EDIT: just for clarification, P&O ferries are a different company to P&O cruises. It’s P &O FERRIES  that have just sacked their workers .

P&O cruises are a different company and have sent info out distancing  themselves from P & O ferries no plans to use a ferry but i certainly would not use them, disgusting

Booked a long weekend of football in Italy. Cheap flights to Pisa.

Had a mad rush around changing dates to help fit in with football fixtures but the current plan is to fly to Pisa and fly back from Milan.

Games we plan on seeing are Spezia vs Venezia, Fiorentina vs Empoli and AC Milan vs Bologna.

Booked flights to Nice for our Minimoon for three nights in June. Any recommendations for hotels, restaurants, bars, things to do etc? Is the city or nearby coastline better.

Fancy hopping on the train to Monaco for a couple of hours because I'm quite neurotic about having to set foot in a new country if I'm near its border.

If you are in Nice you have to go to Monte Carlo, especially if you are in Nice for three nights. Eat or at least have a cocktail at Hotel de paris, put some money on something at monte carlo casino, daytime booze at la note bleue, cathedral, look at the yachts on the harbour etc. Just take in the full on high life for a day.

Yeah, would seem a waste not to when it's such a short distance away. The train ride along the coast looks quite picturesque too!

Found a brewery right on the harbour that doesn't even look that ridiculous price-wise for food or beer.

Congratulations :)

No recommendations I'm afraid, although it looks like Groby has it covered with Monaco.  We've also got a few nights in the Nice area booked in September, so it would be great if you can report back please.

We also plan to go to Monaco, you can't not really can you?

Heading to Hamburg next month on my stag, any recommendations for places to go whilst there?

For football St Pauli, though getting tickets can be a problem, SV Hamburg easier to get tickets but not as much fun.

Plenty for culture vultures in the City centre.

The Reeperbahn (near St Pauli) for good old fashioned stag night sleaze.

Just checked and Hamburg have a home match when we're there, that'll do

I've just booked Lanzarote for next week. Not somewhere I've been and it was impromptu based solely on it being the hottest place next week within a sensible flight time.

Staying in Puerto del Carmen if anyone has any recommendations / things to avoid...

I went there about 20 years ago for some hot weather training in october.

It was warm but windy for some reason.

That's all I can offer you!!!!

Off to Malta in 2 weeks time but 9 year old has just caught covid this week (Tested positive on an lft).

The rest of us are all vaccinated hence no need for further tests for entry requirements.

We have to get my son a negative Pre departure  covid test 72 hours prior to arrival so we can go.

I'm already in the mindset that he will now test positive We fly out Sunday 17th so we can test him from the Thursday onwards)and  for the 2nd time this trip will be cancelled.

Praying Malta somehow change the rules in the next 2 weeks but I doubt it.

What a trip. The football was superb, Italian ultras culture is fantastic.

Also had a much better experience of Italy than when I wen't before for the first time.
