Going to Almeria for 2 weeks tomorrow. Flights at 6.05am so will be at Man Airport at a ridiculous time with 2 young children. Should be fun lol I'm expecting the airport to be an horrible experience so hopefully we get lucky and it isn't that bad :fc:

Keep an eye on how they’re doing…. Heard bad things about time through security- especially early

Get thread for burglars this

If a burglar spends his days reading the foxestalk holiday thread and can find my address using the very loose information I give away on here. He deserves a chance to root through my shit and decide I’ve nothing worth taking.

Going to Las Vegas this September.  Any tips on things to do, places to eat, casinos and nightlife will be welcomed!

I also tried to search past Las Vegas posts on here but Foxestalk appears to lack functionality to search keywords in a specific topic?

Been Vegas 3 times but haven’t been since 2015.

Cirque du soleil at the MGM was very good recommend buying them from the official box offices though as street sellers can be scams.

Heart attack grill for a burger & fries, don’t go for the food go purely for the entertainment it provides.

The casinos are all pretty much the same, the hotels are definitely just worth walking round and having a look at.  Cesears palace & bellagio have the more high end designer stores in them. If you wanted to do a bit of shopping jump in a cab and head north to the designer outlet

Also do Wet republic pool party if that’s your type of thing.

Do the helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon if you can. The view as you go over the rim will stay with you forever.

Is very nice especially the Pine Walk with nice quiet bars like Hotel Sis Pins, Cappacino, you’ll find loads of nice places, plenty of places to choose from. Some very nice restaurants in the town and good bars but don’t expect it to be lively late at night. Make sure you visit Pollensa old town ( about 10 minutes in taxi or catch the bus… some good restaurants such as Onze in the main square, good food and great service) and the square atmosphere in the square is great. Also take a taxi out for an evening/night to Alcudia old town, again some good bars and if you like steak try Basico Steak House, very very good ( need to book so you can sit in the the courtyard, very pretty, and don’t make the mistake of thinking it’s the Basico Gastropub, it isn’t )

Restaurants are in the eye of the beholder but for Puerto Pollensa I can recommend Stay on the marina with amazing sunsets, Amazo with really excellent food at good price,  La Llonja for views across the marina and fantastic, Abbaco  (mostly veggie but really good food, I was “turned”) and if you can be bothered try Modesto in Cala San Vicente, a 20 minute taxi trip but a really lovely small restaurant in a lovely setting ( you will need a taxi ride to get there and back but they will sort for you and again fantastic steaks)

Wherever you choose to eat I strongly recommend you book in advance as the good places get booked up in advance.

Hope that helps.

Absolutely spot on with this,

it's our most favourite place in all of the balearics. Alcudia quite near or a cheap bus ride away if you want busy for the odd day to shake it up. Like @Solihullfoxsaid pollensa old town is well worth a visit. We stayed on pine walk last time but anywhere is great.

Everyone I have recommended Puerto Pollensa to have not been dissapointed to the point where when my friend retires next year he is looking to buy there.

Enjoy and it would be great to hear what you think?

Get one of those Explorer pass things or whatever they're called - lets you choose 5 activities from a large selection for a pretty big discount. I wouldn't bother with the High Roller in the daytime (London Eye but bigger), the views are surprisingly unspectacular and it takes forever to go all the way over. I think the Monorail pass is one of the options, and it's really handy if you're out and about, on the map the strip looks fairly small but when you're actually walking about you realise how far apart everything actually is

Have a meal at Peppermill, it's fantastic. Proper dining, I had the chicken fried steak and really enjoyed it. Apparently it's where the locals eat

If you're there for a week or more, I'd recommend the Hoover Dam tour. I think that might have been one of the activities included on the explorer pass when I went (inc coach there and back)

Do the jump from Stratosphere - 900ft (if you have never skydived or similar). I've never had a rush like it, and it's only $100 or so

Don't buy anything from the off licenses at the entrance from MGM Grand (no prices listed), you'll end up paying $7 for a bottle of water. I went to Von's supermarket just east of the airport and stocked up snacks/drinks for the stay, WAY cheaper than what you'll pay anywhere on the strip

Enjoy!

I dunno, they all pretty much have the same games and tables, but the vibe varies a lot. MGM Grand is ridiculously big but a bit soulless on the casino floor - does have a lot more activities etc. I liked Flamingo, much more laid back gaming. Then when you go to Fremont Street some of it is well old school, penny machines and shit

Also recommend the breakfast buffet at Luxor

Sorry for delay, feared the worst when I got there and the queue for check in was ridiculous but did move relatively fast. Wasn't as bad as expected.

Queues for bars inside were worse, ruined traditional pre holiday pints.

Ah…. Great 👍🏼

I’ve heard so many nightmare stories of late

Get the lagers in on the plane !!!

I was expecting the worse travelling home from Schipol last week…. Turned out to be 30 mins at security…. Other people waiting 6 hours !

All these people laid off during covid….  Bad wages and then wonder why staff weren’t in a rush to return

I'm looking into going to netherlands at the end of next month, I have checked on line and it said you don't need to have negative covid test to enter netherlands. Just to clarify is this the case?

If you are vaccinated, no need for test

Just had a nice long weekend at Center Parcs Woburn.
The soft underbelly of middle England at its finest.

No sign of a cost of living crisis here

We're currently in the Algarve, and wincing slightly at the fuel prices, but having a fab time.

We're very lucky to be house sitting again, 2 weeks free accommodation in a stunning villa with an amazing pool and views, if anyone has thought about getting into it I can't recommend it highly enough.

House sitting in return for a holiday is a thing people do? Amazing

Ireland was absolutely ****ing wank. Actually tbf, the people are great ‘craic’ but presumably only cos they have to put up with living there.

Somehow managed to batter their countryside into even more of a lifeless mess than us and Dublin is an awful city, basically took all the bad bits about London, none of the good bits. Some reasonable coastal scenery tbf but what a waste of 10 days otherwise.

I went to Dublin with colleagues about 15 years back, the original idea was to go to Amsterdam but I was overruled as flights were "too much". After 2 nights of paying £7 a pint (in the days of £3 a pint in Leicester being a bit steep), I was so pissed off. The city feels like a bang average English city but the pubs are so heaving you can't get a good seat, there's barely anything to do, weather was garbage - I don't understand why anyone would go more than once. The final straw was us trying to have a cheap night out the last night we were there so we found a shit nightclub that looked like a youth club. Single vodka Redbull was £11.

I think the only things I enjoyed were the Guinness factory tour (killed an hour, included a pint and the tour was actually cheaper than a pint in any given pub), and Johnny Rockets breakfast. Even the open top bus tour was shit, we had a miserable old tour guide who singled us out (over the PA) because we didn't know or care about where some 18th century poet no one has heard of lived between 1772 and 1776

Interesting, I like Dublin because it’s fun but I can’t imagine what you’d do for ten days across Ireland. That’s a long time. Maybe why you disliked it??

TUI have just decided to cancel our trip to Mauritius in July for the wife’s 40th. Only had my money for 12 months. Bunch of Willy pullers.

Sorry to hear that, wife must be devasted. Way things are going they may as well, cancel all flights close the airports to passengers... until the actually get the staff ready to scratch. Once agian passengers suffer.

Isn't there a way, where airlines to help ease the crowds at certain airport, transfer the flights to another airport or even reopen other near by airports. Like for Birmingham Airport, up the road you have Coventry Airport. For a peirod that was being used for TUI flights, can that not be option again.

I’ve got a holiday booked with Tui/first choice in July. Not very confident it’s going to go ahead seen loads of people saying they are going to go bust.
