I'm very envious, I'd love to go. Looking forward to hearing all about it :)

I just want to point out that my post should have said Oct-Nov not Aug lol I bloody wish it was that long.

I'm mostly dreaming of the food, already.

Flights booked

Fly out to Hanoi late Oct and back from Saigon (HMC) Mid November.

Now just to sort everything in-between, which I love doing.

You’ve got long enough to cover everything in Vietnam but when I went I strangely loved Da Nang. Off the beaten track and fun. Short and direct flight to Cambodia from there as well

I rode from Hoi An to Hue via Denang about 10 years ago. Sadly Central Vietnam is a no no in Oct-Nov due to obscene levels of rainfall so it will be a north and south Vietnam trip where oddly the weather is about as good as it gets.

Tentative plan

Hanoi

Cat Ba Island & Lan ha bay

Sa pa for some trekking

Phu Quoc or Con Dao islands for some relaxation

Mekong

Saigon

Not sure if I have commented before but Cat Ba Island is a better prospect for sailing to Halong Bay as it is far less crowded (suspect you would know that anyway)

Yea it's the main reason I'm looking at it tbh.

I've done Halong Bay and would rather go for somewhere less touristic this time. Thinking of a hybrid trip with staying on Cat Ba and maybe a day boat trip coupled with village stay.

I know this is slightly off topic. But seemed the best place to post.

Anyone else find searching for holidays stressful, I don't know if it's the fact it's a good chunk of money and using annual leave that I find the thought of having a nightmare when it's the only time I get to spend solidly with the family.

We had a disaster in Portugal once, found Es Cana in ibiza the next year and have been going back ever since.

Next years prices are hideous in comparison to this summer.

Started looking elsewhere. But it's almost like I can't click book, incase it doesn't live up to expectation.

Nope, absolutely love it, always have a couple of trips booked at any one time or at the least a few European weekends. Couldn't get up and work all day without the prospect of an adventure ahead. Granted I have no idea where what or who i'll be next summer, way too far ahead planning wise, so i haven't been exposed to the inevitable price rises yet.

I've had plenty of 'bad' trips but always take some positives out of them.

Don't get me wrong. I'm the same love having something to work for and look forward too.

Been having a couple of holidays a year pre covid times, partly so we can explore somewhere else and then head back to ibiza.

Next year I've potentially got 3 trips to Holland for football, they are easy to sort, plus new york in April with the wife, but trying to plan next years summer holiday is proving difficult.

So much choice, so many good and bad reviews. Definitely wish I'd never started reading those lol

It’s definitely a stressful experience because you want to find something perfect and if you are anything like me you end up scrutinising every aspect. That then leads to it being impossible to meet your expectations with the budget available.

I thought my luck was in for a change. The missus bought a static home on a holiday park in east Sussex (after an inheritance), with the idea of renting out some weeks, and using ourselves for short breaks in-between. I was looking to some r&r near the coast this Autumn.

Then she goes and rents it out for 3 months solid.

In a sense we have too much choice nowadays. In the old days you'd go to the travel agents, give them your requirements, and let them filter the options down. Happier (if less efficient) days.

Sounds like your luck is in. Use the money earned from the bingo club staying in a caravan on a wind battered coast to go somewhere nice for some r&r

Maybe 20 years ago I'd agree. But my tolerance of extreme weather isn't what it used to be. The climate on the south coast suits me fine, not too hot, and rarely too cold.

Going to Las Vegas this September.  Any tips on things to do, places to eat, casinos and nightlife will be welcomed!

I also tried to search past Las Vegas posts on here but Foxestalk appears to lack functionality to search keywords in a specific topic?

When you going ? I’ll be there on Saturday 😀 , never been and no idea what to expect but should be fun.

Leaving on 16th.  I have visited once but was passing through but will be experiencing it properly this time around.

I think my expectations are fairly low as I am expecting it to be loud and bit on trashy side so just going along with the flow for laughs lol

In 3 weeks time my wife and I will be hiring a car at JFK to do a 2-week tour of Virginia.  Dunno why - my wife planned it :) Any hints welcome.  My first concern is the drive from the airport to our first stop at Anapolis.Haven't driven in USA for a while.
