Nexus 7 (2012) 1st gen and screen casting

Recommended Posts

The bbc, in their wisdom, hade removed the iPlayer from certain Sony products, one of which I have upstairs. So I now have to watch the iPlayer on my tablet. How can I cast the screen to my telly? (it has hdmi input) I've read that things like chromecast don't work on he 1st gen nexus 7. Dies anyone have any advise? I don't want to buy an ezcast if that will be useless with my tab.

I could just watch on my tab, but I'm old and my eyes are failing.

The Nexus 7 first gen won't be compatible with the screen mirroring part of the Android OS, that's only available on the newer stuff (KitKat and Lollypop). The iPlayer app itself should be compatible with Chromecast though, I use it on my Asus Transformer, and that is bloody ancient. You can also use Chromecast with a Windows PC or laptop, if you use Chrome browser and the Chromecast plug in for it, that works with the iPlayer too.
