Does anyone have any South Leicestershire recommendations for Sunday lunch? We are meeting friends from Rugby way, we are NW Leics and somewhere in-between would be ideal. Following a recommendation on here, we tried The Royal Arms at Sutton Cheney, which was excellent. So, that's a possibility, any other suggestions?

The Black Horse in Market Bosworth is good. The Black Horse Restaurant in Market Bosworth

Also, just down the road from The Royal Arms is The Hercules. Also good, but there's no traditional Sunday Lunch as far as I know. Hercules Revived, English Country Coaching Inn, Sutton Cheney, Leicestershire

Or The Royal Red Gate on the A5/A444 junction. Menu | Nuneaton - The Royal Redgate Country Pub & Restaurant (theredgate.co.uk)

If I were to choose personally, I'd go Black Horse. Always been top for service, atmosphere, food and location.

Just watched Rick Stein in Leicester and he went to what looked like a shack serving various street foods but we couldn't work out where it is. Did anyone else see it that knows it's location?

He also went to Bobby's. It looked excellent and we're thinking of going. Any opinions, folks? Maybe @Raj, you have been?

Bobby's is ok for "chaat" dishes but otherwise poor. People still go there cos it's been there for decades and the owner is always on TV/radio, but there are much better restaurants.

You missed out the best one, Mithaas! All great other suggestions though, although I was disappointed when 4 seasons took over Sayonara.

Sayonara was really good and was sad when it closed down. 4 Seasons is pretty good, they do a decent thali and excellent pav bhaji!

Not a restaurant but I couldn't find a thread for Decent bakeries in and around town. Tiny Bakery on clarendon park road is really good.

Since Hampshire's & Coombe's have called it a day, to the best of my knowledge there's only Gregg's in town. Such a shame, you go up to Yorks/Lancs there are several independent bakers, all doing well.

Always stock up on bread by raiding the farm shop at Stonehurst Farm.  There was a stilton, walnut and cranberry (I think) loaf that was amazing.

Yeah the queues at the weekend can quite often stretch onto Queens Road

Go most major cities its the case. It's a trend. Leicester zilch in the city centre - Birmingham by comparison has the excellent Medicine and Perch.

They do a good olive roll, we travel across the city on a Saturday morning for their stuff. Shows how poor the city’s offerings are.
