Lewis was a Birmingham-born centre-forward who arrived at Fosse somewhat in his veteran days, but he still put in a good shift in the blue and white, despite a relatively poor return of three league goals in 30 appearances.
He started his career with Windsor Street Gasworks and worked his way up to feature for Small Heath, but only scored three goals. It was his move to Stourbridge where Lewis excelled, bagging 35 goals in the Birmingham League as Stourbridge finished runners-up.
His form there saw Leicester snap him up in May 1902 to add experience to the frontline. He actually scored against former club Small Heath in his debut in September of the same year but could only add two more goals to his Fosse tally.
He returned to Stourbridge after his stint with Fosse and also filled in for striking players at Worcester City following the outbreak of the First World War.
