The French-born Ivorian international was perhaps a shock acquisition when City signed the full-back on his release from Tranmere Rovers. Nigel Pearson snapped him up to bolster his defensive options but chances were few and far between for the former Paris St Germain man in Leicestershire.
He started his career with the Paris club and ventured into England first with Millwall, where he managed to get regular game time before Willie Donachie took charge and promptly loaned the defender out to Brighton. His spell on the south coast was hit by injuries and international call-ups, however, and after a spell back in the French capital with Alfortville he joined Tranmere Rovers on a free transfer.
His spell on Merseyside was a breakthrough for Bakayogo, making over 120 appearances for Rovers in the lower divisions of English football and getting many admirers along the way. One was Pearson, who signed him for Leicester. He made just two starts in the League Cup, before being loaned out to Yeovil for more football but another injury saw him return to Leicester and he was ruled out for the remainder of the 2013-14 campaign.
