The Danish defender’s time at City was not memorable after he was brought in by Dave Bassett to try and bolster a leaking defence that was fast en route to a drop out of the Premiership.
Starting his career in his home country with Vejle and then moving to Silkeborg, Laursen had been known in English football previously thanks to his stint with Derby County. A move to FC Kobenhaven followed but Laursen was soon back in England as Bassett looked for him to add steel and experience to his back line.
He made just ten appearances for the Foxes and failed to taste victory in any of them. Things didn’t get any better when he was loaned out to Wolverhampton Wanderers and he looked for a move away from England for a fresh start, moving to AGF Aarhus.
Despite his City struggles he was still capped 25 times for Denmark and made one appearance for his country in the 1998 World Cup in France.
