City gave Leeds-born Large his first shot in the top-flight after plodding around the lower reaches of English football with clubs including Carlisle United, Northampton Town and Oldham Athletic. It was from a second spell with Northampton that saw City hand him his chance.
He adapted quite well to the top-flight, after many expected him to play the role of back-up he featured for much of that only season at Filbert Street, making over 30 appearances and scoring eleven goals.
His goals return was decent but Large was very much a team player, known for his sheer power in attack and helping bring others in to play and set-up goals. It deemed his move somewhat of a success but Large did not stay for long at one club, moving on to Fulham, a third spell with Northampton and Chesterfield before having a taste of football stateside with Baltimore Comets.
