Davis, a defender from Nantwich in Cheshire, made just a handful of appearances for the club but did play in Fosse's debut game at Mill Lane and the club's first-ever FA Cup clash.
After starting his career with hometown club Nantwich, Davis actually spent six years on the books of Fosse between 1889 and 1895 but played the majority of his career for Fosse Rovers. He also featured regularly for Leicestershire in Inter-County matches and went on to feature for Hinckley Town in the 1897 County Cup Final.
Although Jimmy Atter is correctly credited with scoring Leicester's first senior goal at Filbert Street, it was actually Davis who scored the club's first goal at their then-new ground when he netted in a reserve team clash three weeks earlier.
Davis was also included in Leicester's first Midland League game.
