Frettingham is part of Leicester's 'one-game club', with his only appearance for the club coming in the Midland League clash against Wednesbury Old Athletic on Christmas Eve 1892.
The inside-left amateur had played for all of Stapleford, Basford, Newark, Nottingham Forest and Fosse in the first part of the 1892-93 season, perhaps looking to settle down at a club but not having the opportunity.
Strangely, later that season he was back at Fosse, both scoring against them for Newark in a Midland League game and then featuring for the Foxes in a friendly match-up against Forest.
He did finally turn professional after that year touring the clubs, signing for Long Eaton Rangers and then Lincoln City in Division Two. He finished his career with New Brompton, spending the final seven years of his career with the Southern League club.
