Davy was a strong and reliable right-back who carved his qualities in the Lancashire League with Blackpool and, before that, Heywood Central. He spent two years with Fosse and chalked-up a half century of Football League appearances.
He went on to play for Bristol City in their inaugural Southern League season and interestingly he was also picked to play in goal for the Robins on two occasions.
After his footballing career he owned a pub, remaining in the Bristol region, before becoming a blacksmith.
