Dubliner Dunne was the son of Irish international forward Jimmy and was cousin of Leicester's Tommy Dunne. Despite being born in Dublin, his career actually started with Leicester in September 1953, but he had to wait a couple of years for his debut, playing against Sheffield Wednesday in April 1955.
He could only manage four appearances for the Foxes, and, interestingly, made only eight appearances across all four divisions during his footballing career.
He played at inside-left and went on to play for St Patrick's Athletic, where he was an FAI Cup winner in 1959. He was also part of the Peterborough United team that won their final Midland League Championship before promotion to Division Four. He made just one appearances for Posh the following season, however.
