Dixon was an English-born and Scottish-raised forward who made just eleven appearances for City between 1951-53.
Interestingly, Dixon excelled with Scottish club Queens Park, scoring 88 goals in five years before he came to City, and was picked for a Scottish representative side before he admitted his true birthplace.
Dixon proved his qualities with Clyde and Hearts before a move south of the border to Northampton Town. He went on to play for Leicester but endured a largely luckless spell with the club before moving on to feature for Kettering Town.
He went on to become masseur/physiotherapist of Notts County in 1957 after his playing days had come to an end.
