John was the younger brother of Andrew - a man who played for both City and Leicester Tigers at first-team level. John's career remained football throughout, and he joined City at the same time as his older brother in 1920.
The move also came via Rugby Town and it lasted the same length of time as Andrew - but this time he moved on to Aston Villa, continuing his career in football rather than turning his attentions to another sport.
He was a right winger and made his foxes debut whilst still in his teens, impressing with his pace out wide and actually played five times in the same team as his brother.
John moved on to play his football in Birmingham with Villa but he still returned to Filbert Street further down the line, as part of a Scotland amateurs side that beat England 2-1 in December 1926 when he was a player for Sheffield United.
He finished his career with Sheffield FC and Leicester Nomads.
