Northumberland-born Jobey started out as a half-back but switched positions to become a centre-forward, and it was in this role he started life at Leicester when he made his debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 1919.
Jobey joined Fosse on his demob after spells with clubs including Newcastle United, Bradford Park Avenue and Arsenal, where he played in the first-ever game at Highbury against Fosse, the club he would later join.
He failed to find the back of the net in his first three games, however, and manager Peter Hodge moved him back to his original position at half-back, where he played for the rest of his short career with the club. Leicester decided against keeping him on at the end of his first term and Jobey finished his playing career with Northampton Town.
