The Grimsby-born fisherman played for Fosse around the start of the first World War and went on to make 13 appearances for the club. He started his career in Lincolnshire with Goole Town before making the move to Leicester but suffered back-to-back 6-0 losses in his opening games.
The winger continued in the starting line-up, however, and enjoyed a 5-1 success to close his career in superb style.
Amazingly, after enlisting in the Footballers' Battalion in 1915 he lost his left eye but was still keen to run out for Fosse in a match against Leeds just four months later, with the Foxes looking like they were unable to raise a team. He did get one game in before the war ended, for hometown club Grimsby Town. Codd returned to Leicester out of football, taking on a business career in 1933.
