Born in Derbyshire, Fletcher actually had trials with Fosse and played in Billy Dorrell's testimonial match against Corinthians in 1898, playing on the opposite flank to his brother, Jack.
Fletcher started his career with Derby Hill's Ivanhoe and also played for Derby Nomads before he returned to Fosse to make five league appearances for the club. He could play at either inside-left or outside-left but did so sporadically over three seasons with the Foxes.
He enjoyed better fortunes when he moved back to his hometown with Derby County, scoring eight goals in 33 appearances.
Aside from football, Tom represented Derbyshire CCC at cricket, playing against the West Indies in 1906.
