Goudie was an amateur goalkeeper and made just one Football League appearance for Fosse, playing his only game at Luton Town in 1899.
He was actually a journalist by trade, working as a reporter for a Derby newspaper while playing football. He played locally in Derby, his hometown, as an amateur both before and after his time at Leicester and was a stand-in in goal for the trip to face the Hatters. It resulted in an emphatic 6-1 win for Fosse but Goudie never featured again.
He'd also played in a friendly match for Leicester against Corinthians, putting in a performance that perhaps impressed the Fosse coaches ahead of the game with Luton.
Goudie was better known as a journalist and his skills as a reporter took him to work on the Daily Mail, both domestically and abroad in Paris.
