Gould played just six first-team league matches for Leicester after failing to nail down a regular spot in his preferred inside-left position, being used mainly as back-up to more experience within the Foxes squad at the time.
Born in Burton-on-Trent, he played locally for Burton's Sydney Star team and then Burton United before moving to Fosse in June 1905, but staying less than a year as he searched for more regular first-team action elsewhere.
He averaged a club almost every year, going on to play for Bristol Rovers after his stint with Leicester and then Glossop and Bradford City. He then featured in the Manchester City side that won the Division Two championship in 1910 before finishing his playing career with Tranmere Rovers.
