Hamill was one of Craig Levein's recruits from north of the border, who was ultimately a squad player who managed just a handful of appearances in a largely unsuccessful stint at the Walkers Stadium.
Gaining experience under Levein in the SPL with Hearts, the winger looked to boost his career with a move to English football and he actually netted in his debut in the League Cup at Bury, but it was one of few good moments in a City shirt.
He only managed seven league starts, and that goal against Bury was his only contribution. As soon as Levein left, Hamill was destined to follow him out of the door, failing to make a single appearance when Rob Kelly took control.
His contract was cancelled in the summer of 2006 and he moved back up to Scotland, this time with Livingston, where he spent four years before being loaned out to Queen of the South.
