Davies cost City a then club record fee of £250,000 from Belgian club Brugge as Frank McLintock looked to the lanky Wolverhampton-born striker to help improve City's fortunes on the pitch in 1977.
It took Davies time to adapt back to the pace and power of the English game after his spell abroad. Before that move away from English football, Davies had showcased his goalscoring ability with Derby County but he could never get that goalscoring, or even general, form back in the City shirt.
He scored four goals in that term but that was ironically enough to earn him joint-top scorer status - highlighting the club's problems. He won a domestic double with Club Brugge and also netted four goals in the European Cup so plenty was expected of him as a Fox. The fans soon grew impatient with his below-par performances as Leicester suffered relegation to Division Two.
As well as a spell in Belgian, Davies also enjoyed success in the United States after his time with Leicester. He took on a job as postman after finishing his playing career.
